Residence-based denominators changed and updated

Move to aged 16-64 basis:
The resident population figures used to calculate rates with claimant count and DWP benefits datasets (denominators) have been changed. Prior to 11 August 2010, the denominators were for working age (males aged 16-64, females aged 16-59). From this date, they are for aged 16-64 for both males and females. The change has been retrospectively applied to all dates in the series, so denominators previously obtained from Nomis will not match those output now.

Local authorities and regions:
New 2009 denominators have been added and the figures for 2002 to 2008 have been revised in line with the mid-year population estimates published by ONS on 13 May 2010.

1998 travel-to-work areas:
As from this update rates are no longer available for these areas as ONS no longer produce aged 16-64 population estimates for these areas.

CAS Wards, 1995 constituencies, 2001 travel-to-work areas:
ONS have not published new or revised population figures for these areas at this time. So the most recent figures still are still for 2007. We anticipate these will be updated in early 2011.
