Regional Workforce Jobs - new datasets
Two new workforce jobs datasets have been released on Nomis which are included under a new data theme, workforce jobs, in wizard or advanced queries:
- workforce jobs by industry (SIC 2007) - seasonally adjusted [link to data]
- workforce jobs by industry (SIC 2007) and sex - unadjusted [link to data]
These datasets replace the three existing employee jobs / workforce datasets which have been moved to the historical section under the workforce jobs theme.
The new datasets provide estimates of total workforce jobs, employee jobs, self-employment jobs, government supported trainees, and HM forces. Figures are available at national and regional level only (no local authority data).
The latest estimates are for June 2010 with time series figures back to 1981. Except for the UK, figures are only available for employee jobs before 1996. For areas other than UK, estimates of total workforce jobs, self-employment jobs, government supported trainees, and HM forces are available from Mar 1996. For UK these figures are available from 1981.
A number of complex and fundamental improvements have been made to Workforce Jobs. Central to these is conversion to the new Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) 2007. Details of the improvements and revisions can be found at http://www.ons.gov.uk/ons/rel/wfj/workforce-jobs/revisions-to-workforce-jobs---july-2010/revisions-to-workforce-jobs--july-2010.pdf
