New regional and national profiles

We released two new profiles on 13 April 2011:

  1. Regional and National Profile. This profile is similar to that for local authorities but contains a number of tables only available at regional and national level. These are:

    • Headline indicators - seasonally adjusted: this table includes the national and regional headline employment, unemployment and economically inactive estimates. Figures come from the Quarterly Labour Force Survey and relate to a three month survey period.

    • Total JSA claimants - seasonally adjusted: the headline Jobseekers Allowance claimant levels and rates. The figures are adjusted for seasonal patterns to provide a consistent time series going back to 1971. Also note that the rate figures shown in this table are calculated on a different different basis to those used in the local authority claimant count table. The regional and national rates show claimants as a percentage of claimants + workforce jobs in the region/country.

    • Workforce jobs by SIC 2007 section: quarterly estimates from the seasonally adjusted Workforce Jobs series.

  2. Local Economic Partnerships Profile. The content is identical to the local authority profile except that the Annual Survey of Hours and Earnings (ASHE) tables are excluded. Because of the way ASHE estimates are supplied (as medians), we are not able to derive ASHE estimates for new areas such as LEPs ourselves. More information about LEPs on Nomis is provided in a separate news article.
