Residence-based denominators updated

The resident population figures used to calculate rates with claimant count and DWP benefits datasets (denominators) have been updated.

Local authorities, regions and related areas: New 2010 denominators have been added to bring the denominators in line with the population estimates estimates published by ONS on 30 June 2011. Claimant count and benefit rates for dates from 2010 onwards now use these new denominators, so may be different to those downloaded from Nomis previously.

Other areas including wards, constituencies and 2001 travel-to-work areas: ONS have not published new or revised population figures for these areas at this time. So rates will remain unchanged.
