Residence-based denominators: new 2011 estimates

The resident population figures used to calculate rates with claimant count and DWP benefits datasets (denominators) have been updated with new 2011 estimates for local authorities and higher geographies. Claimant count and DWP benefits rates/proportions for all dates from Jan 2011 have been updated to use the new denominators.

The new 2011 denominators for areas in England and Wales are based on the 2011 Census. Estimates for areas in Scotland and Northern Ireland are based on mid-year 2011 population estimates consistent with the 2001 Census. Estimates for GB and UK are based on a combination of these estimates.
