BRES Employment vs employee jobs
Just wondering what people use when analysing BRES/ABI data - employment or employee jobs? I have always used employee jobs but looking at employment there is a 13,000 difference.

BRES provides information about self-employment and employers, which was not available from ABI and earlier series. Suggest you make a comparison of the two measures in Bristol to see if there is a high ratio of self-employment or small firms (where employers form a relatively large proportion of total employment). As I understand the difference, employment is the fuller measure and will be the one to use as the BRES time series grows, but for backward comparison with ABI you might want to use employee jobs.

The methodology note at http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Topics/Statistics/Browse/Business/Corporate/Methodology explains it quite well.
