Regional Workforce Jobs

The quarterly update of the workforce jobs datasets took place at 09:30 on 15 June 2011 with the release of new data for March 2011. The datasets updated are:

• workforce jobs by industry (SIC 2007) - seasonally adjusted    [link to data]


• workforce jobs by industry (SIC 2007) and sex - unadjusted    [link to data]

This series provides estimates of total workforce jobs, employee jobs, self-employment jobs, government supported trainees, and HM forces. Figures are available at national and regional level only (no local authority data).

This release was originally scheduled for 16 March 2011 but was delayed due to production and quality assurance processes within ONS taking longer than anticipated.

Northern Ireland Estimates

The Department of Finance & Personnel (DFPNI) who produce the Northern Ireland estimates have revised their employee jobs time-series back to Dec 2009.

ONS, in line with their revisions policy, have only included the revised Northern Ireland estimates into the current and previous periods of their Workforce Jobs (WFJ) series i.e. the Dec 2010 and Mar 2011 estimates.

The revised Northern Ireland estimates prior to Dec 2010 will be incorporated into the WFJ series when the Sep 2011 estimates are published in Dec 2011.

As a result, there is a small discontinuity in the Northern Ireland estimates between Sep 2010 and Dec 2010.
