LSOA order by code rather than 'name'
Is there an easy way of re-ordering the LSOAs according to the LSOA code instead of the LSOA names (which we never use)?

unless I have picked this up wrong - select "include area codes" in format/layout. Output to excel then sort on column.

Thank you for your response. I was really thinking about the order that you view when selecting. As we use the LSOA codes, I first have to look up the 'names' and then reorder them to be able to select them easily. I have to say that I find the names really distracting.

I think the problem must be at my end. When I go to choose LSOAs over VPN working at home, the listing is in LSOA Code order, but doing the same thing at the office the listing is in LSOA Name order.

Neil - The problem is not at your end! There is a setting in preferences which allows you to specify whether geographies on the selection screen are list in name order or code order.

To change this setting from within advanced query (I'm assuming you are using this option to download data), click on the preferences link which appears underneath our phone number in the top right of the advanced query window. Under the General preferences heading you will see there is an option to set the Default sort order for geographic selection. Change this setting to by area code.

This setting is saved on the computer you are working on so you will need to modify it separately for each computer you use. This would explain why you see different setting at home and at work. I assume you must have modified this setting at some stage in the past on your home computer?
