Access to BRES data
To access the Business Register and Employment Survey (and former Annual Business Inquiry and former Annual Employment Survey or Census of Employment) data, you must first obtain authorisation from the Office for National Statistics. The authorisation is called a Notice.
To apply for a Notice you must have your own Nomis account. Use the link at the bottom of this page to apply online. You will be asked for the following information:
- Your own contact details;
- The names and, if applicable, Nomis identifiers of any additional researchers who will have access to confidential data;
- A descriptive title stating the statistical purpose of the research and geographical area of study;
- The contact details of any research initiators/sponsors to whom you will pass confidential data;
